Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will stay in a hospital for observation overnight after being attacked at a campaign rally in Milan, a spokesman said Sunday.
Milan police were questioning a mental illness man in connection with the attack, which left the Berlusconi (73) bleeding profusely from his left upper lip and cheek. The premier underwent a CAT scan at Milan's San Raffaele Hospital, and his personal physician, Alberto Sangrillon, recommended more tests be done, Berlusconi spokesman Paolo Buonaiuti told CNN.
The conservative media-mogul-turned-politician has been dogged by allegations of corruption and is in the middle of a messy divorce from his second wife. He was in Milan, his hometown and political base, to stump for a local political ally.
Milan police said Berlusconi's attacker hit him with a not big, metal souvenir replica of the city's central cathedral - Doumo di Milano, but it was not spontaneously clear whether the man swung at Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi with the object in his hand or threw it at him.
Defense Minister Ignazio La Russa told the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera that Berlusconi continued to shake hands with supporters for "a couple of minutes" after being hit.
"He remained calm and leaned out the window as he was being driven to the hospital and waved to the crowd," La Russa said.
Buonaiuti said there was "a lot of confusion" surrounding the assault, but he put some of the blame on Berlusconi's critics.
"What I can tell you is that there has been such a buildup of hatred toward the premier, and this is not good," Buonaiuti said. "This campaign of hatred has been building quite rapidly recently, and I am not surprised that what happened tonight took place."
Berlusconi remains popular between the Italian public, however, with his approbation ratings remaining well over 50 percent. He won a third term in 2008, and his conservative coalition has control of both the Italian Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

Zhu Zhu Pets toys unsafe
A consumer group fights one of the holiday season's must-have toys is unsafe. GoodGuide has named the robotic Zhu Zhu Hamsters as one of the top-selling toys with low ratings. It says it found a higher-than-allowed level of a chemical that can cause health problems. The toy's maker insists that its produce is safe.
Antimony is used in textiles and plastics to keep them from contageous fire, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry. Prolonged exposure can cause lung and heart problems, ulcers and diarrhea, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
Good Guide named Zhu Zhu Hamsters one of the top-selling toys with low ratings after finding antimony, which can cause health problems, on the hair and nose of one of the toy hamsters, called Mr. Squiggles. The group assigned the toy, aimed at 3- to 10-year-olds, a rating of 5.2 on a 10-point scale.
But the Zhu Zhu Hamsters’s maker, St. Louis-based Cepia LLC, insisted in a statement that its produce is safe and has passed rigorous testing. The company said it was contacting GoodGuide to share its testing data and fix how the report was founded. Zhu Zhu Hamsters retail for about $10.
The Zhu Zhu Hamsters are popular in Europe as well as in the United States. Their British distributor, Character Options, said the produce, sold there as "Go Go Pets," are "fully compliant" with U.S. and European Union standards.
"I have been in the toy industry for more than 35 years, and being a father of children myself, I would never permit any substandard or unsafe produce to hit the shelves," Russ Hornsby, Cepia's CEO, said in the statement.

Virgin Media is going for 3D TV in a big way following social trials in the Virgin Media market in London.
It appears that either Virgin Media has a try for 3D TV, or it is trying to force Sky TV into showing its 3D TV hand.
Anticipated to take place from November 17th, the service will allow subscribers to admission content which has been moved into possessive anaglyph images and should appear 3D via especial spectacles.
The “3D Festival” from Virgin Media will give customers admission to Channel 4’s The Queen in 3D and Derren Brown's 3D Magic Spectacular. The two programmes will be available in Catch up TV and TV Choice.
In accordance with Broadband TV News, the spectacles will be available from Sainsbury's and Virgin Media shops in the build-up to the so-called 3D V Festival.
Jon Ingram, operations director at Digitalchoices.co.uk, said: “This offer is excellent news if you are a Virgin Media customers and you miss the 3D content being aired this week on Channel 4.”
He added too: “After its successful 3D trials, it will be fascinating to see if Virgin Media determine to give customers more 3D content, such as the 3D channel planned by Sky.”

On Wednesday night, Taylor Swift stormed the Country Music Association Awards and took at home all four prizes for which Taylor was nominated, including the much-coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy.
While it seemed like a validation of Swift's success from the country music establishment, no much people was pleased with the 19-year-old's victory. Country music legend Wynonna Judd spoke out versus Swift's victory, though she reversed her position on Thursday.
During an interview on the show's red carpet Wednesday night, Wynonna was asked what advice she would give to Taylor Swift. "You want my loyal advice? It's too much too soon," Wynonna said, according to USAToday.com. "Time is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once. It's just too much of a good thing too soon. Mom and I rode in a vehicle for the first year of our career to visit radio stations. There was a making of the star, there was a rising-up, and the fans went with us. Now it's over coffee breaks, the success, almost."
But on Thursday, Judd clarified her stance on the message board of her official Web site. "I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift's Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement," Wynonna wrote. "My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry, all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of any age. Marge Simpson Playboy Photos
There is a first time for everything, even for Playboy.
The magazine has chosen Marge Simpson, the cartoon matron of the show The Simpson, as its November cover girl.
The issue, hitting stands on October 16, features a three-page photo spread of the housewife and mother of three, with what the magazine is referring to as "implied nudity". It is Playboy's first time featuring a cartoon character on its cover.
Playboy's new CEO, Scott Flanders (that's right - Flanders), is hoping Marge's pictorial debut will attract 20-somethings to the magazine. Playboy's average reader is 35 years old.

Players collect game pieces, available on select food and drink items, in hopes of winning prizes ranging from free food to cash.
"The MONOPOLY Game at McDonald's has become a part of pop culture that our customers love and anticipate each fall," said Douglas Freeland, director of marketing, McDonald's USA. "This year is more exciting than ever, with customers getting the chance to win $1 million every day."
Game pieces are available on Angus Burgers, Chicken McNuggets (10- and 20-piece), large fries, medium and large fountain drinks, large hot McCafé drinks and hash browns.
New Ways to Play and Win Online and via Mobile Phone
Online: Now through November 16, the MONOPOLY Game at McDonald's goes "social," giving customers the opportunity to enter Game codes through a Facebook application that can be downloaded from www.facebook.com/mcdonalds.
Players can download the application and enter codes from their personal Facebook page, but must go to www.playatmcd.com to complete registration. With the application, players can invite friends to play and update their status by answering the proverbial, "What would you do with $1 million?"
Thanks to the digital age, much of the McDonald's Monopoly game is now driven by the Internet. Players can enter game piece codes online, and participate via Facebook and Twitter.

How to Get a Google Wave Invite!?
The internet is all heated up about Google Wave as today Google would be sending around 100,000 Google Wave preview invites to selected users. And all tech enthusiasts are berserk over grabbing an invite, no matter what. But would you be receiving one ?
If you need a Google wave invite, you need to do either of these following and of course wait.
1. Be a developer who’s active in the developer preview of Google wave. ( No ? No problem)
2. Should have signed up and given feedback on wave.google.com when it launched in May. ( You didn’t ? No problem )
3. Should have been using Google Apps, for some time. ( Not yet ? No problem )
If you’re reading this text, its likely that you didn’t do either of these or is unsure if what you did is enough to get an invite. But fret not. There must be some alternative solutions to getting a Google invite. Lets see.
1. Use Twitter to find people who already got an invite
Earlier when Gmail was introduced on invites, there was no Twitter and the strategy worked well. But today you have Twitter and every one of those 100,000 first time invitees might (most probably) have an additional invitation to send out to their friends.
Okay, so if I got a Google invite, I’ll immediately tweet about it and invite a hundred others to join in. So just make sure you’re one among them. (not just me, but others who might get the first time invite.)
For this, you could save a search (via Tweetdeck) for something like “Just got a Google wave invite” Or “Yay ! Got the wave invite” or something similar and get alerted immediately when someone gets an invite.
2. Set a Google blog Alert to find users who got an invite
You might already know how to use Google alerts to get alerted for blog posts or news about something that interests you. Use it to set a Google alert for blog posts on Google wave. When someone gets an invite beg them for including you.
Obviously, first time users may not have hundreds of invites to give away, but as Google says in its official blog.
We’ll ask some of these early users to nominate people they know also to receive early invitations — Google Wave is a lot more useful if your friends, family and colleagues have it too.
So, you must be able to contact the early user, in order to get an additional invite. If you can do it, problem solved. :D
Alternatively, you could also try asking Google for an invite. (Not likely to get it right away though, reasons being obvious.). Follow the #GoogleWaveInvite hashtag on Twitter, to keep you updated with possible free invites.

TLC announces 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' will be relaunched as 'Kate Plus 8'

After weeks of tumbling ratings and a constant barrage of tabloid stories following the stars of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," TLC is going in a different direction.
Starting in November, the show will be relaunched as "Kate Plus Eight," TLC revealed Tuesday. nydailynews
Kate Gosselin has always made it clear that, despite her divorce from Jon, the show must go on -- and it will, but without Jon.
Starting Nov. 2, "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will be rechristened "Kate Plus Eight." In a press release sent to ABCNews.com on Tuesday, TLC announced that it was adapting the show to evolve with the changes in the Gosselin family. abcnews
TLC has confirmed that “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ will relaunch this fall as “Kate Plus 8.” Set to “include a deeper focus on Kate’s role in the family and her journey as a single mother building the next chapter in her life,” the show will still feature Jon Gosselin in an executive and recurring appearance capacity, but he will no longer be a focal point.
